History of modern language shows the trend of learning a new language ultimately fades away as its losses its appeal after a certain period of time. However, this can’t be applied to Chinese at this point of time. There is a rush in the UK and USA to learn Chinese language. The USA government has announced that Mandarin Chinese is a “critical language” for both students and businesses.
The question is, should parents enroll their children in children Chinese lessons?
- Since the Chinese economy is only getting bigger, hence it is really important to acquire a skill as the Chinese language than any other language. Same rules apply to children. Therefore, parents who are planning to see their children working in Foreign Service should also need to understand that the knowledge of the Chinese language will also bring a person closer to understanding the Chinese culture.
- With the added knowledge of the Chinese culture, a child will be more likely to secure a better job in the future compared to an adult. In future most businesses are going to expand in China; therefore, a child can make him/her valuable to such scenarios.
- But before sending their children to take children Chinese lessons, parents should aware about the fact that learning Mandarin is not that easy. Mandarin has no common vocabulary of any sort with English or any other Latin languages. Along with that, the Chinese writing system is not even remotely similar to any Latin scripts. A typical Chinese character has about 15 strokes or more and there is no pre-defined set of alphabets like the 26 alphabetic characters in English.
- Children who are planning to take Chinese lessons need to know that it is going to take a lot of time to understand and memorize before writing them correctly. But greater the challenges are, sweeter are the results.
